TAFE Opens JFarm at Telangana State Agricultural University

CHENNAI: Major Tractor TAFE opened JFarm – Telangana, an adaptive agriculture research and extension center in Telangana State Agricultural UniversityARI Campus, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad.
This facility is the first in the country to be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, set up under the umbrella of PJTSAU & TAFE.
The new center provides a platform for Farmers to interact with agricultural experts on a wide range of concepts such as scientific agricultural practices, organic farming and the conservation of soil, water and natural resources.
TAFE’s Adaptive Research Center also facilitates the transfer of agro-technology and mechanization in agriculture, using equipment ideally suited to the drylands of Telangana, through demonstrations and training programs.
TAFE’s Product Training Center (PTC), as an integral part of the facility, will educate farmers on TAFE’s Integrated Mechanization model, which combines the operation and maintenance of tractors, implements and machinery.
The center was inaugurated by TAFE CMD Mallika Srinivasan, Mr Raghunandan Rao (IAS), Agricultural Production Commissioner and Secretary – Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of Telangana, and Dr. V. Praveen Rao, VC, PJTSAU.
Mallika Srinivasan, President and CEO of TAFE, said, “TAFE’s vision of Growing the World is focused on improving agricultural productivity and the prosperity of farmers. With this in mind, TAFE established both JFarm and its Product Training Center, as CSR initiative, dating back to the 1960s, to impart knowledge through applied research, practical demonstration of mechanization, interactions and training to the agricultural community, as a pioneer in the field of agricultural mechanization. JFarm and TAFE’s PTC in Telangana, a CSR initiative and a third such establishment in the country, is a reaffirmation of TAFE’s commitment to improving agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability in the country.
